What is septoplasty?
Septoplasty is called nasal septum surgery. That is, this operation can be considered as plastic or realignment of the nasal septum.
Septoplasty is mainly functional and is intended to restore nasal breathing. But at this time, there is no change in the external appearance of the nose. If there is a change in the external appearance of the nose, it is septorhinoplasty.
In general, we perform septoplasty in all rhinoplasty. As I myself am an ENT doctor, I give more importance to septoplasty. Because in rhinoplasty, it is impossible for any patient's nasal septum to be perfectly straight. Therefore, during rhinoplasty, I perform septoplasty.
Also, we form a new nose with the cartilages we take from there. Also, after rhinoplasty, the volume of the nose is made smaller and I remove any small obstructions there. That is, as I said, there are no changes during septoplasty... I would like to mention one point I apply septoplasty only to those patients who have a raised nasal tip and not a low nasal tip.
If I perform septoplasty on patients with a low nasal tip, nasal breathing is still not restored, on the contrary, because the nasal cartilage is weakened after the operation, there is a possibility that the nasal tip will fall off more and more.
