What is the age limit for septoplasty?
Septoplasty, as we mentioned earlier, is not nose plastic surgery, but the operation of the nasal septum. Septoplasty can be done more freely after 15-16 years of age.
But there are patients who have sharp curvature of the septum at a young age, at which time the age limit can be lowered. Even newborns may need it. But usually, we can perform septoplasty surgery in children after 12-13 years of age. In other words, as much as we work, we perform more protective operations among little patients.
Because the nose is formed at this age. I should also mention that when septoplasty is done at a younger age, we warn the parents of the patients in advance that they may need to do rhinoplasty again in the future because some growth zones are damaged there.
